Volkswagen Beetle 1965 $-1

With over 21 million built from 1938-2003, and holding the distinction of being the 4th most influential car of the 20th century, (Ford T, Mini, and Citroen DS in the top 3) the Volkswagen Type 1, widely known as the Volkswagen Kafer "Beetle", is the longest-running and most-manufactured automobile of a single design platform anywhere in the world., , Offered For Sale by the California Automobile Museum, , A 1965 Volkswagen Sedan “Beetle”. When it comes down to a true, unexaggerated quality example of the 1965 Volkswagen, you would be hard pressed to find one better than this. First let me say that this is not a concours level, 100 point, high end show car. While it has been a prominent piece in the California Automobile Museum’s Wundercars exhibit, and has drawn the attention of guests, VW fanatics, young people, elderly people, and nearly every walk of life in between, it does have its flaws. Those will be described later. So then what IS this VW? This VW is as perfect of an example of a driver condition bug as one would ever want to get in my opinion. It has been meticulously gone through from front to back, and then back to front, skipping nothing in between. Kept as close to original as possible without sacrificing safety or drivability, this is definitely a bug better than most., , Exterior-, The exterior of this VW is extremely nice. The body is solid all the way around and the newer paint job is great. There is some very minimal “orange peel” type texture present but could very possibly be buffed or sanded out by an experienced paint professional. Even in the typical German colors, it will shine, and shine it does! As mentioned previously, this car is not perfect. To find its flaws on the exterior, one would have to closely examine the car without interruption. There are some fine scratches and light fading on the trim adorning the car. The door handles have some very small pinhole type spots similar to a condition referred to as patina. The bumpers shine brilliantly and their condition is fantastic. The glass is all very clear and clean. There are no cracks, chips, or other blemishes present aside from some very light dust scratches. The exterior lighting is all functional and the lenses are all intact and look great. The panel alignment, fit, and function is good. The trunk and engine lid open and close securely and tightly. They both latch as they should and the seals are new on each. The doors close tightly with new seals as well. The VW rides on factory style wide 5 steel rims wrapped in Kumho Steel Belted Radial 771 tires in the 165R15 size. The body is completely rust free and there does not appear to be any evidence of rust repair, welding, or other significant repairs. The undercarriage of the bug is very clean as well. It has been cleaned, sealed and painted. It too is rust free. Because of the seal and coating, it can’t be determined if any repairs were made. One other item to mention is a slightly bent radio antenna., , Interior-, The interior of this VW is where the fun and personality come into play. The Orange and Tan color combination is great and is not overwhelming. Everything inside is new. From the seat belts, down to the carpet, the seats up to the headliner, fresh material was used and installed and it looks great. There is a newer style stereo installed allowing for am and fm radio listening. No holes were cut for speakers and the dash not modified. This stereo uses the speaker location behind the speedometer. As with the exterior, the interior is fantastic but not perfect. Cosmetically, there are some small paint runs on the dash, and the material treatments around the tilt out side windows are coming loose. On the driver’s door, there is a very small crack forming at the small wing window frame mount location. The fuel gauge fascia has a scratch on it from the many years of movement by the needle and the dome light does not function with the opening of the doors. It will work when manually a
