Pontiac TRANS AM 1978 $5,000

1978 LOCAL TWO OWNER CAR EXCELLENT RESTORATION PROJECT #s Matching Car, this car was bought new at Champ Hinton Pontiac in Fort Smith in 1978. The original owner traded the car in to Smith Chevrolet here in Fort Smith in 1983. The second owner purchased the car on 7-13-1983. The last time the second owner registered and renewed the license plates was on 9-30-1988. This man was an avid car collector, who loved to tinker with his cars in his own shop. Over the years he purchased an untold number of cars. HE NEVER SOLD ANYTHING. As time passed he would store his cars at his shop, his house, his farm, and at rent houses, relatives places, etc. He became a Horder of cars, engines, scooters, and all kinds of auto related stuff. Unfortunately he passed away in 2012 from a heart condition. His Widow sold off a number of his cars. We purchased a dozen, some for parts, some to get the ones we wanted, etc. A few we have renovated. This Trans Am was to be a restoration project, BUT, we just have too much going on and do not see a reasonable time frame to do it in. SO WE ARE SELLING IT AS IS-- I will attempt to tell you all I can. I have done nothing to it since moving it out of his shop. , When I first inspected the car heres what I found. THE OIL and WATER were as fresh as new. THE keys have not been located so we have not attempted to crank it over. A side note all the cars we have worked on from his estate have been very easy to get running again. He kept the engines in good order mechanically in everything weve found. A number of his friends have come to the shop and told me stories of his car fetish. Now as you can imagine the cosmetics on his cars were not good. This car apparently was lightly used when he first bought it. The only paperwork I could find with a mileage reading was from the last registration in 1988 and then it showed 6,042 miles. I am going to assume it was 106,042 miles, but with all the oddities in his estate, the miles may be only 6,042. Right now the car reads a little over 19,000. I again assume it is 119,000 total miles, but it might be actual. His widow did not know a whole lot about some of the cars. I think there were close to 100 in the estate when we first started looking at buying some of them. ANY WAY- current condition -- I will try to break this down by sections., , MOTOR-TRANSMISSION-- everything appears to be there, no modifications, all the brackets, etc. on the engine appear to have never been off or moved. WITH THE CONDITION OF THE FLUIDS IT MAKES ME WONDER ABOUT THIS BEING A LOW MILEAGE CAR., INTERIOR-- everything is there, the vinyl on the seats has some rot, especially the buckets and the dash pad. Sun damage mostly., the console and door panels are all there as also the dash appears to be all original except for a cheesy radio., BODY-- no evidence of bondo, or rust repairs. I believe it is all original paint(what hasnt faded off). One small surface rust spot on the passenger side valence below the door. Dents on passenger door and quarter and right front fender. These dents look more like storage issues rather than any collosion issues. Smooth large dents. The underside is straight, has surface crud on everything but does not look like any need for floor replacement. The gas tank, and underside of trunk area looks real good. , WHEELS and TIRES-- what are on the car in this picture do not go with the car... these were in inventory from an 83 t-a and we put them on to move the car around. I do have a good set of honeycomb wheels( gray finish) that go with the car. DO NOT have good TIRES but will put rollers on the car to move it when it sells., Spoilers-- rear spoiler is straight not cracked. the front fender splash guards standard on the T-A are missing. The rear ones are on the car. , HOOD-- Shaker Hood Scoop is all there. The inner air cleaner is too., Glass-- windshield is cracked, door glasses and
