Up for sale is 1957 Mercedes Benz 190SL Coupe in need of completing the restoration. In 1957 there were only 3,332 190SL’s built and this SL is one of them. This is VERY EARLY production number 190SL (VIN # 121.040-7500164, Chassis # 121.040-750082). , , According to its Original Data Build Sheet, this 190SL is rare removable HARD TOP ONLY model (no soft top), or what Mercedes called the “Coupe”, featuring very rare and highly desirable color combination of Black (Schwarz) Exterior over Red (Rot) Leather Interior. Engine is also original and it’s number (121.921-7500187) matches the original Data Build sheet!! It is very rare and hard to come across ALL NUMBERS MATCHING Merceds SL, especially after 56 years of its life!!! This Mercedes is very solid, numbers matching, and it makes a great candidate for a show quality restoration!!! , , Today, this legendary German Sports Car is 56 years old, and even after all those years, it still has that beautiful and timeless charm, and with its grace and beauty this legendary 190SL will be stopping the local traffic and turning heads for years and decades to come!! Also, Hard Top was taken apart, and rear glass is missing. All other Glass is complete, and in great condition. This SL is about 95% complete (gas tank was removed and also never returned)!, , Its original welding dots along the front fenders and throughout the vehicles chassis (trunk, floors, etc) are still present, showing originality of this car. , , Engine and transmission were put back into the car and now restoration needs to be completed. All instruments are in the car and complete down to its working Kienzle Clock! , , Original Matching numbers Engine is complete, spins freely, but it has not been run since restoration was started few years ago. Engine comes with original Solex carburetors.
